Rock Shox XC 30 TK bike polo fork was not intended for bike polo. It is a low to mid range cross country mtb suspension fork. This 26er fork was gifted by 1990 world champion downhill racer Greg Herbold to Purango Dolo as a test fork for competition play, has 100mm of travel, steel stantion tubes and a steel steerer. With lock out, rebound and compression settings, it is the top of the line polo breed. The fork weighs in at 4.5lbs with the 7 inch steerer tube. 555 miles of polo and commuting to polo were amassed on this fork from 9/11-12/12.
The quick and dirty review;
The Durango polo debate of late is which is better, the 26inch for or the 29inch fork on the traditional 26inch frame. Most run a 29 rigid for on the 26 frame for the rake and the up right position. So the 26 suspension fork is the odd duck. The Rock Shox XC 30 TK worked great. The lockout was used primarily and it made for predictable play. The seals did fail around 400 miles, but it only left a small dead space, 10mm at most of travel, before the pop off valve activated. Using the sus fork was good and bad. On bumpy fields it was nice to have the give in the corners and under heavy forward front braking. On smooth hard fields, it was not much of an advantage as lockout stayed true and kept things rigid. It would have been nice to run the higher end Rock Shox fork to be able to use the adjustable pop off lockout valve.
Pros
- Solid steel steerer and stantions made for a solid suspension front end.
- Lockout worked great for flat smooth fields
- Adjustable rebound and compression
- Disc Brake compatible
- low maintenance
Cons
- weight

Professional Cyclist Chris Van Dine has been down south following his heart. His wall ride in the video below is quite spectacular. It plays at 2:45. Here is the camera video of his winning jump. Chris’s father gifted us a full set of wooden polo mallets and on Thanksgiving 99′ it began. CVD played 3-4 years before traveling the world riding bikes fast and furious. Someday he will return victorious, with a mallet in his hand.

Its true, Purango Dolo has been blanked for 2012 on the grass. For the first time, durangoans have not won a regional, super, or grand master grass tourney in 12 calendar months. Nothing to worry about is what several people have suggested. Rumor has Kerma Inc., may pull shaft product sponsorship for 2013-14 as a direct result of the winless season. This past tourney in Buena Vista. Colorado went down in history with Fort Collins taking the win again to take the season Colorado Can Cup Title. Durango sent its two strongest in Alex and Lee, but got taken this time. Rumor has an astrix will adorn the Cup Trophy champion etching, but a title it was nonetheless. Rumor has Durango hosting the spring cup with a event simular to spring 2011.
*Interesting to note that on the hardcourt scene, Purango Dolo went 1 for 1, winning the Denver Hardcourt Tourney on a come from behind second day undefeated run. It was Alex and Lee with FC’s Evan. Well Played.
